Cannon Community Theater Projects

The Cannon Falls theater group was founded in 1973 by Mary Jo Johnson with ticket sales donated to the patients at Mineral Springs Sanatorium. The group was called the Tuesday Club Playhouse and the first production was called "Bessie, the Bandit’s Beautiful Baby" directed by Johnson. This was the beginning of a series of melodramas with many local townspeople participating in the productions. Then they took a bit of a break.

In 1991, Marlene Willis, Marilyn Husman, Florene Majerus, and others restarted the group and renamed it Cannon Community Theater. Their first show was "Crimes of the Heart", performed at the old elementary school. They continued to perform at various venues until again taking a break in 2005.

Cannon Community Theater was pulled out of hibernation in 2013 by Chuck Bracken, who directed the 2015 production of The Odd Couple, shown at the Cannon River Winery as a dinner theater venue. The show was very successful, selling out both of the Saturday night performances.

Recent productions include: "The Sunshine Boys" directed by Chuck Bracken, 2016, "The Glass Menagerie" directed by Linda Henderson. 2017, "Blithe Spirit" directed by Chuck Bracken, 2017.
